Puebla and Roma Norte, Mexico

Nestled into our two-week stay in Guatemala was a small trip to Mexico. We spent the first few days in the beautifully decorated town of Puebla, some 130km east of Mexico City. It was recommended by our friend, Kate, who joined us for the trip — and it didn’t disappoint. Like the places we visited in Guatemala, the buildings are brightly coloured, and the town is small enough to cover in a day or two. We then spent a couple of days in Roma Norte, a thriving and quaint neighbourhood in Mexico City that, to me, felt more European than Latin American. It’s definitely got hipster vibes to it! A lovely place to wander, particularly in the morning as I did one day when I took my camera out, and in the evening as the alluring, gentle hum of punters from its vast array of bars and restaurants fills the air. If you’re looking for recommendations, please visit Panadería Rosetta for its dreamy selection of fresh pastries (get the guava roll!), and The Lamb, a recently opened restaurant that puts a Mexican touch on old English favourites (when staff saw that we're Brits, they were nervous, but they needn’t have been!). Here are a selection of snaps from the short trip — the first 13 from Puebla, the next five from Roma Norte, and the last three from a very brief foray into the centre of Mexico City.
